The Man from Mo'Wax Official Selection at MIFF

Our travels with Capture's latest project documentary feature film The Man from Mo'Wax continue, this time taking us to the other side of the world!  The 22 hour journey from London to Aus for the Melbourne International Film Festival was certainly worth it, we were lucky enough to experience all the festival had to offer as well as what must be one of the best cities down under.

If you've ever been told that Melbourne is Australia's cultural and food hub we'll second that. The city sports a huge array of cuisine, none of which disappointed, and the Scorsese exhibition at the AMCI exploring the legendary director, producer and screenwriter's inspirations, process and collaboration drawn from his personal collection was a brilliant way for us cinephiles to spend an afternoon.

Although our stay in Melbourne may have been short we weren't short of things to do while out there.  After landing early in the morning our first day in the city allowed for a few hours to explore and then straight in to press engagements with director Matthew Jones.  When we weren't catching some of the great films that were screening as part of the festival (and we really were spoilt for choice) or promoting our own we made the most of MIFF's workshops and talks and events.

We couldn't have asked for more from The Man from Mo'Wax's screenings down under, the film played twice over the first weekend of August to brilliant sold out audiences who proved that the Australian sense of humor didn't veer far from our own.  We were thrilled to share our film with the city and the hugely positive response we got back was the cherry on top.  MIFF was undeniably an excellent festival and we're just waiting for our opportunity to go back!

Carmarthen Bay Film Festival

We headed over to Wales for the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival where not only were our shorts Killing Thyme and The Girl in the Dress both officially selected but went head to head in the Best Comedy Award section.  A lovely day spent in Wales taking in both British and International shorts and feature films was topped off by a great evening with Killing Thyme picking up not just the award for Best Comedy but the Best of Festival award too!

Killing Thyme - Cast & Crew Première

After such a wonderful evening at the BFI Stephen Street for The Girl in the Dress screening back in December it was a no brainer to hold the cast and crew première for Capture's latest short film Killing Thyme there, so last night that's exactly what we did!

With over a hundred guests including the film's female lead Charlotte Riley and Director of Photography acclaimed cinematographer Phil Méheux, each of the four screenings was packed with a great audience.  The reception space was abuzz with great reactions to film, lots of mingling and all the trappings of good evening (aka a well stocked bar).  It really was another brilliant evening!

The Girl In The Dress World Premiere

Last night was the world premiere of The Girl In The Dress, and what better place to have it than as part of the BFI Film Festival!

One of only 7 films to be chosen to screen at the festival as part of  this year's  Film London London Calling selection of shorts, the film screened as part of the Journey section of the festival.

And our very own Nick Helm did the introductions for the night!

All in all, it was a great evening and a  fantastic way to kick start the journey of our finished film.
