It was an exciting week for Killing Thyme as we were screening at the Oscar recognised Foyle Film Festival, which previously screened one of our other short films Gin & Dry, for our Northern Ireland Premiere! Director M J McMahon flew over to represent the film which was nominated for the Light in Motion Live Action Short Film Award. Killing Thyme was one of the twenty-seven short films nominated from across the globe, including films from Germany, Hong Kong, Brazil, Belgium and more.
Our trip in Northern Ireland began with an insightful film conference focused upon the difference between short and feature filmmaking, with interviews from the likes of Filth Director Jon S. Baird and BAFTA-winning Director Damien O'Donnell, who we had the pleasure of hanging out with after the talk. Damien O'Donnell's short film 'How Was Your Day?' ended up winning the Light in Motion Live Action Short Film Award, and then went on to win the Grand Jury Narrative Short Award at SXSW as well!
Killing Thyme screened on the 21st November at Nerve Cinema 1 along with other amazing films in our category, which meant we could finally see some of the work from the filmmakers we had the pleasure of becoming friends with during our time at Foyle Film Festival!
All in all Foyle Film Festival was a wonderful experience, check out some of the photos from our time there below:
