Cannes Film Festival 2014

We're feeling sun-kissed here at Capture, and we'll thank Cannes for that.  Once again we headed over to the Riviera for a festival full of great films and brilliant events - and made it back in one piece!  Below are some of our favourite moments in Cannes this year.

The Rise VFX

Released in 2013, The Rise was one of the best independent British films of last year. Capture were commissioned by Molifilms to produced over 15 VFX shots across the feature film, creating explosions, tea spills, and additional rain. Find out all about it in the video breakdown below:

Hawk in Milan

Our short film Hawk was officially selected for I've Seen Films Festival in Milan, so writer/director M J McMahon made a pit-stop to the Italian capital to represent the film and pick up the Special Acknowledgment awarded to the film by Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner)!

Nike Higuain - The Perfect Strike

Our latest collaboration with AKQA for NIKE Football Global, focussed in on the striking talents of Argentina’s Gonzalo Higuain. Below are some behind the scenes pics from our recent trip to Madrid, featuring our innovative steadicam dual use of a Canon 7D AND 5D Mark II simultaneously:

Gin & Dry at Austin Film Festival

Gin & Dry was officially selected for the Austin Film Festival, so we headed over to the States to get in on the action!

An ode to our first short Hawk

An ode to our first short Hawk

Gin & Dry screened twice on the 21st and again on the 24th to packed audiences (sitting in the aisles packed!), after which the film's writer/director Oscar Plewes gave a Q&A, after the screenings we headed to Austin's infamous Sixth St to celebrate the film's brilliant reception.  Not only was our short in the festival, but our friends over at LA based 28 Entertainment were in town too with their film Deep in the Heart - and a London / LA link up means another reason to celebrate.

Over our ten days we experienced all Austin had to offer, and it didn't disappoint.  From the cities nightlife, it's pretty awesome street food a good dose of Southern hospitality and an impromptu bar consisting of a pick up, a cooler and a hay bale, we'll definitely be heading back.  The festival itself was a great event, an excellent selection of films from around the world, inspiring talks by the likes of writer Michael Arndt, drawing in audiences who just love film.  Gin & Dry received an amazing response and we met some wonderful people...we couldn't be happier!
