As with all aspects of filmmaking it’s always a team effort and thanks to our friends at Spaceland Presents, KCRW, Los Gaupos and The Regent Theatre, our feature length music documentary The Man from Mo’Wax had an amazing L.A Premiere!
Having opened as a cinema in 1914 the Regent Theatre was the perfect place to screen the film, as over time the building has also been used as a concert hall and performance space and meant the film screening and then DJ sets from both Money Mark and James Lavelle could all happen in the same space!
To start the night Jonathan Rudnik from Los Guapos introduced the film, James Lavelle and two of the film’s producers; Brian A. Hoffman and M J McMahon.
Born and bred in L.A., it was great for Brian to get to watch the film in his hometown, having previously travelled as far as Melbourne and London in the past with the film across it’s festival run.
Another person who didn’t have to travel far for the screening was Mo’Wax alumni Money Mark who had a lovely reunion with James Lavelle before playing an impromptu DJ set which featured him scratching some Victorian sheet music!
There was time for a quick signing session with James Lavelle before a DJ set that finished off a great night perfectly.
