The Man from Mo'Wax festival tour continues, this time to Braunschweig for the film's German Premiere which screened as part of the 30th Braunschweig International Film Festival. We headed to the city in the early hours of Thursday morning to catch the last few days of the festival and represent our documentary.
The Man from Mo'wax was part of the festival's Our Sound on Screen-Programme which was split into two strands, the Spotlight section which consisted of five new music documentaries, and The Sound of Northern England: Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield honouring a few of Northern England's talented bands, from The Beatles to Pulp and The Stone Roses (whose front men both feature in our film). The Man from Mo'Wax screened on the 10th of November at the Universum to a wonderful audience, after the screening we were thrilled to meet a Mo'Wax fan who naturally had a whole heap of questions to discuss over a few biers.
The next couple of days were spent watching some excellent films and attending the festival's talks and events. Friday's highlight was the screening of Hardcore Henry and subsequent Q&A with director Ilya Naishuller who we had the pleasure of hanging out with afterwards, and on Saturday we caught We Are X, which has graced many of the same festival programmes as The Man from Mo'Wax this year. BIFF also hosted a number of great events and talks, including interviews with the festival's European Actors Award winner Brendan Gleeson and composer Patrick Doyle who has scored Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Bridget Jones's Diary, A United Kingdom and one of our favorites Carlito's Way, just to name a few!
We're definitely pleased we made the trip to Braunschweig for a brilliant festival, check out some of the photos of our time there below:
