The opening title sequence for The Man from Mo’Wax, was created entirely in-house at Capture, from ideation to animation. The film’s Director Matthew Jones took inspiration from a variety of aspects of the film to influence the visual style of the sequence, from the VHS look inspired by the multitude of home video footage that makes up the film, to the red and blue colour palette taken from the famous 1994 Mo’Wax release, Royalties Overdue.
The motif of the UNKLE Pointmen was developed across the process as we created 3D animated models of the figures that were initially developed by Mo’Wax collaborator and renowned artist Futura. Below you can see stills from the design process showing different looks that were tested and developed. Futura’s work also inspired the spray paint style text which animates throughout the sequence, in his famous McGurr font.
